Alfa Chemistry produces activated carbon through physical activation and chemical activation processes. The important advantages of the chemical activation technology on the physical activation route are lower activation temperature, shorter activation time and higher carbon yield.
The technological scheme used to produce high-surface-area activated carbons are as follows:
1. The coal is mixed and stirred with a certain amount of solution, which contains a certain amount of activator, depending on the ratio of activator/coal.
2. Dehydrate mixture at 400 °C for 1.5 h, and then activate at 600-1000 °C under nitrogen.
3. Immediately immerse samples in deionized water after activation, filter, rinse in deionized water, and filter again to remove the activator and activator derivatives.
4. Dry at 110 °C for 4-8 hours.
