As a narrow band gap material, cadmium sulfide (CdS) has a good response range to visible light, and its conduction band edge position is relatively negative, which is a kind of material with a high solar energy utilization rate. Based on this, nanoscale semiconductor particles composed of CdS, i.e., CdS quantum dots (QDs), have received extensive attention. The term "oil-soluble" indicates that the surfaces of CdS QDs are modified or coated with specific hydrophobic ligands, which allows them to disperse stably in oil-based solutions. Due to their small size and tunable optical properties, oil-soluble CdS QDs have applications in optoelectronics, sensors and imaging.
