Oil-soluble CdSeTe/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) are nanoscale semiconductor particles with a core of cadmium selenide telluride (CdSeTe) and a shell layer of zinc sulfide (ZnS). The surface of these QDs is modified to be oil-soluble, allowing them to disperse and remain stable in oil-based solvents. This combination of alloy core and protective shell makes CdSeTe/ZnS QDs useful for a wide range of applications in bioimaging, sensors, and optoelectronics.
