Application
Boron carbide has long been used as a coarse sand abrasive material. Since it has a high melting point and is not easily cast into an artificial product, it can be processed into a simple shape by melting the powder at a high temperature. Boron carbide is also used as a ceramic coating for warships and helicopters, as well as in the manufacture of metal borides, and in the smelting of sodium borates, boron alloys and specialty welds.
Characteristics
Boron carbide possesses high purity, narrow range particle size distribution, larger specific surface area and so on. Boron carbide does not react with acid and alkali solution. It has high chemical potential and is one of the most stable materials to acid. It also has properties of anti-oxidation, high temperature resistant, high strength, high grinding efficiency, high hardness, high elastic modulus, high wear-resistant, and good self-lubrication characteristics.
